A new edition of my Cultural Sensitivity booklet is available from Joint Commission Resources.

I've posted a new link to a short documentary video featuring Brian Jordon, MD (one of my former medical students, now Chief Pediatrics Resident, University of Michigan Health System) working in the Peruvian Amazon with a traditional shaman. The link can be found on the "Field Reports" page and is entitled, "Where Western and Traditional Medicine Meet." Or you can access it directly here.

Special thanks to Ron Grant for using his extraordinary web design skills to "clean up" my website. Please note that the URL for this site has changed; it can now be accessed at www.ggalanti.org; www.ggalanti.net; and www.gagalanti.com. If you have a link to my site, please change it to one of those three. The old URL (www.ggalanti.com) will unfortunately, no longer work.

The 4 C's of Culture handout can now be downloaded directly on the Resources page in both English and Spanish.

See an interview with me at PhysicianCrossroads.com.

I've posted a new article I've co-authored on providing culturally competent healthcare. You can download it from the "Articles" page. Note that it was published in a European journal, hence, the British spelling!

I've added a link to order free copies of the excellent
Provider's Handbook Series on Culturally Competent Care from Kaiser. You can find it on the Resources page.

I'm very pleased to announce that I am the recipient of the 2007-2008
Outstanding Teacher Award for Clinical Faculty Teaching, given by the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA for my work in the Doctoring Program.

Resource:Training manual for orienting foreign-born nurses to work effectively in American hospitals. Complete with activities and PowerPoint slides. For further information, see Resources page.

My article on perianesthesia nursing, posted under Articles, won a 2006 Mary Hanna Memorial Journalism Award. Selection criteria included journalistic style, originality, clarity of expression, relevance of content to the specialty, and overall contribution to the collection of published nursing knowledge.
